Twice-Told Tuvan Tales

They say in Tuva ``To listen to a kind and clever fairy tale is as good as to have a swim in a mountain spring''. Tuvinians are skillful in different handicrafts and folklore.

Tuva is situated on a high plateau in the centre of Asia and is rich in salubrious springs. Tuvinian folklore is like another spring of reviving water.

Traditionally Tuvinians are good at hunting and breeding cattle and sheep. They are especially skillful at making folk dresses and ornaments for women.

Here are a few Tuvan Tales for you. Sit back and enjoy.

As an added special bonus, here is an audio clip of Kira Van Deusen reading the camel's tale. This recording includes accompaniment by Kaigal-ool Khovalyg, Kongar-ool Ondar, and Anatolii Kuular.
